Rachel Grimaldi
Co-Founder & CEO

Dr Rachael Grimaldi is an exceptional entrepreneur and leader. In just 72 hours, she launched CardMedic, a pioneering healthcare communications app, which is in use in 120 countries with 55,000 users. The app provides digital flashcards, available on mobile and desktop, to guide people with additional communication needs through clinical interactions. These additional needs may come from blindness, deafness, or language barriers, and are needs that affect more than 35% of the population. As a result, patients who have previously experienced barriers to healthcare, are able to receive the standards of care that they deserve. As well as being a successful entrepreneur, Rachael is a senior anaesthetic registrar at Great Ormond Street Hospital, a role that she manages alongside being CardMedic’s Chief Executive. This unique blend of clinical and commercial experience has enabled CardMedic to have an incredible impact on the health system, cementing the role of digital technology in improving patient experiences and reducing health inequalities around the world. As a result of this impressive impact, CardMedic has been named one of the 25 ‘Ones to Watch’ by the Department for International Trade. Rachael’s successful launch and scale of CardMedic has also enabled her to win the globally renowned She Loves Tech competition, the international MassChallenge Accelerator, and Pitchfest at Digital Health Rewired. She puts a lot of her success down to the mentorship she received while she was building CardMedic, and is an advocate for providing strong mentorship for entrepreneurs.
